On Oct. 24th, Merck to Report Results for Acomplia Rival ,Taranabant

At reunion ofThe Obesity Society’s annual scientific, which will be in New Orleans ,Merck is planning  to deliver on Wednesday, October 24th the first official report about the results of trials of its new diet drug Taranabant which works by blocking CB-1 receptors just as like Sanofi’s rimonabant(which can be bought online) .

Is expected to present the report entitled “effects of taranabant(the rival of ,the drug that can be bought online, rimonabant), a new cannabinoid-1 receptor (CB-1R) inverse agonist, on patients with obesity over 12 weeks” the senior director of clinical research for Merck,Dr. Ngozi Erondu.

The base of this report will be the results of Merck’s phase IIa trials of the diet drug, that was known then as L-000899055 or MK-0364.

For the motiv that a phase III trial drug with 2,400 participants of the diet for nearly two years has been underway, this doesn’t sound like a very full picture of Merck’s trial experience with taranabant. Nevertheless this will be the first public report on the studies of its diet pill, of any kind by Merck .

Merck hasn’t provided until now data on weight loss or other cardio-metabolic results for study participants, in a serios contrast to Sanofi-Aventis, which alimented the excitement over its CB-1 receptor antagonist rimonabant (Acomplia / Zimulti, sold online) with updates on encouraging weight-loss results from its clinical tries,

A spokesperson from Merck said that the company is not planning to present any data until 2008, from the phase III trial.

Despite that fact the news about taranaban,t from the phase IIa trial is expected to be very positive. Some reports correlated to DietDrugReport.com by trial participants have very exciting and Merck itself has said that the expectations are to file for approval to United States market of diet drug in spring 2008.

The question that is likely to be asked in New Orleans, however, will be about taranabant’s side-effects. Because the side-effect of rimonabant –specially the depression and suicidality incidence — which doesn’t permit the acces of the diet drug in  the U.S. market, despite the fact that Acomplia is on sale online and on the real market in Europe.

Whether taranabant has less damaging side-effects  may be the answer to Merck’s expectations of beating rimonabant to market in the United States.

I would like to make use of Taranabant as i am greatly obese (190kg/418lbs).

I would be prepared to act as a trialist for your product which will be
closely monitored by my doctor who will in turn submit the relevant reports
    as per your instructions

As much as I want to help you It would be unfair to suggest to take part in Trial of Taranabant.
Dear Sir, there is not one country in the world that has yet approved taranabant. I understand you are eager to try it, but you should know that it functions the same way as Rimonabant. Sanofi a French laboratory came out with Rimonabant (Acomplia) last year. it is FDA approved in the EU and South America EXCEPT in the USA… WHY?? becasue the USA FDA is waiting for Merck (a USA laboratory) to bring their version out…Then it will be FDA approved in the USA but not the EU or South America… You see sir, it’s all politics. So if you are looking for a long term weightloss solution you should check 4rx.com they have great prices on the Rimonabant (Acomplia) they are the only ones to sell a 1 year supply which is the best deal you will find. Obviously consult your doctor first.Rimonabant will not affect your daily life like other controlled meds do.
If you want to check 4Rx pharmacy just click on the banner to the right. They always have online and phone support to help you.
If there is something else I could help don’t hesitate to contact me.

I was briefly on the clinical trial for this drug. I don’t know what doesage I had received; however I was compelled to stop the drug after three weeks because of the “nervous system effects”.

In real world experience, that translates into nearly being arrested for flying into fits of rage for mundane occurances such as being given incorrect change at the grocery store; my husband coming home and finding me shaking and crying in the floor of the closet; becoming suddenly disoriented and unable to navigate home from work; and constant thoughts of suicide.

I had never experienced anything like this before and the symptoms abated within days after stopping the drug. These “side effects” began a week after I started taking it.

I did lose 12 pounds in the 3 weeks and had very little appetite. Needless to say the weight is all back.

In my opinion, this is a very dangerous drug and should not be allowed on the market at all.
